Over the past fifteen years, we have found that individualized
counseling has proven to be the most effective way to prepare
for the PSAT and SAT exams. With this approach our students
have increased their scores on average by more than 25%! |
| • |
The reason for this is that the individualized approach helps
build a student’s confidence. We design our course around
each student’s individual needs to help overcome the
stress often associated with taking these exams. We also help
the student develop strategies that will allow him to master
the subject areas with confidence. |

PSAT Preparation: The PSAT exam is the first step in the
college preparation process, and unfortunately, this exam has
often been considered to be only a practice test for the SAT. |
| • |
However, these scores are made available to colleges and
students’ names are placed on mailing lists that serve
to predict what their SAT scores will be. The PSAT is also
the measure for National Merit Scholarship awards; this is
the highest scholastic award that a high school student can
achieve, and he has one chance at it. |
| • |
75% of our students in 2003 qualified for National Merit
Scholarships as a result of their PSAT scores. |

SAT Preparation: College Preparation Services’ SAT
course is based around each student’s individual needs
to help overcome the stress often associated with taking
the SAT. |
| • |
We help the student develop strategies that will allow
him to master the verbal and math subject areas as well as
the new writing section. The student prepares an actual SAT
exam prior to each counseling session for which he receives
a score based on national norms. We then go over the answers
in detail and develop new strategies for questions he has
had trouble with. |
